K.G. Luke Pty. Ltd. was one of Australia's best-known manufacturers of military accoutrements, badges, buckles, buttons, medals and silverware during the mid-20th century. The company was established after Kenneth George Luke (1896–1971) acquired a Melbourne metal-spinning and silverware business in 1925, having entered the business as a partner in 1921 after completing an apprenticeship with Stokes & Sons, another prominent Australian badge manufacturer.
Operating from Melbourne, Victoria, K.G. Luke expanded rapidly throughout the 1930s and became a major supplier of military insignia and equipment. During the Second World War, the company manufactured a wide range of items for Australia's defence forces, including brass, copper and white-metal buttons, badges, brooches, belt buckles and identity discs, as well as other military hardware and equipment. The company also produced insignia for Allied forces stationed in Australia during the war.
Beyond military production, K.G. Luke became renowned for manufacturing medals, trophies, ceremonial insignia and silverware, including products for government agencies, sporting organisations and the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games. The business later diversified into stainless steel medical equipment and industrial manufacturing before changing its name to K.G. Luke (A/Asia) Ltd. in 1953 and subsequently Luke Limited in 1976. The company was acquired by National Consolidated Limited in 1983.
