Williams Air Force Base in Arizona (1941–1993) was a premier jet fighter training facility, famously becoming the nation’s first jet fighter training school in 1945 with P-80 Shooting Stars. As a major hub for the Air Training Command and the 82d Flying Training Wing, it provided undergraduate pilot training, including F-5 Freedom Fighter training for foreign allies.
