The Helle Gaupe is a classic Norwegian all-purpose outdoor knife designed in 2011. Named after the Norwegian word for lynx, it combines a practical 107 mm blade with a hand-shaped curly birch handle and a small finger guard. The compact Scandinavian profile provides a secure grip while remaining comfortable for a range of outdoor cutting and carving tasks. A traditional genuine leather sheath with a distinctive lynx footprint decoration is included.

About the H3LS Steel
The Gaupe uses Helle's proprietary H3LS (Helle Triple Laminate Stainless) steel. This laminated construction combines a highly corrosion-resistant 304 stainless outer layer with a high-carbon core developed from Helle's family steel recipe. The outer layer is designed to provide flexibility and resistance to rust, while the harder core is intended to take a very sharp edge and provide high toughness. Helle specifies H3LS at 58–60 HRC. By combining these different steel characteristics within the blade, H3LS is designed to provide a balance of sharpness, durability and corrosion resistance for traditional outdoor knives.
