The Helle GT is a substantial Norwegian outdoor knife built around an integral construction and Helle's proprietary H3LS triple laminated stainless steel. About the H3LS Steel
The GT uses Helle's proprietary H3LS (Helle Triple Laminate Stainless) steel. Helle describes H3LS as a laminated stainless construction combining a highly corrosion-resistant 304 stainless outer layer with a high-carbon core developed from Helle's own family recipe. The outer layer provides flexibility and resistance to rust, while the harder core is designed to take a very sharp edge and provide high toughness. Helle specifies H3LS at 58–60 HRC. The combination of different steel characteristics is intended to provide a balance of edge sharpness, durability and corrosion resistance, making H3LS particularly suited to Helle's traditional outdoor knives.
