About the 12C27 Steel
The Speider uses 12C27 stainless steel, a single-layer knife steel developed by Swedish steelmaker Sandvik, now produced by Alleima. Helle identifies 12C27 as one of the steels it uses for its single-layer blades and notes that knives made with Sandvik 12C27 are hard enough to work with a fire steel when the blade has a suitable 90-degree spine.
