The OUTBOUND Heavy Duty Flag Of Fiji is a large-format representation of the Fijian national flag, featuring the distinctive light blue field, Union Jack and Fiji’s national coat of arms. Measuring 150 cm x 90 cm, this flag provides a clear and recognisable display of Fiji’s national identity for cultural events, sporting occasions, educational displays, heritage collections and other flag displays.
The present Fijian national flag was adopted on 10 October 1970, when Fiji gained independence from British colonial rule. The flag is a light blue “Blue Ensign” incorporating the Union Jack in the upper hoist and the shield from Fiji’s coat of arms towards the fly. The light blue field represents the Pacific Ocean surrounding the islands, while the Union Jack reflects Fiji’s historical links with the United Kingdom.
The shield has a strong connection to Fiji’s history and agriculture. A British lion holding a cocoa pod appears above a red cross, while the four sections of the shield feature sugarcane, a coconut palm, a dove of peace and bananas. Fiji’s coat of arms was granted by Royal Letters Patent in 1908, and the shield remains part of the national flag.
