AN-58 Knife Steel Guide
AN-58 is a proprietary stainless steel developed and used by Miguel Nieto in many of its folding and fixed blade knives. Designed as a well-balanced all-round blade steel, AN-58 offers a practical combination of corrosion resistance, toughness and ease of sharpening, making it well suited to everyday carry, hunting and outdoor knives.
While it is not considered a premium "super steel", AN-58 has earned a strong reputation among outdoor users for its dependable performance and straightforward maintenance. It is designed to provide reliable edge retention while remaining easy to restore with basic sharpening equipment, making it an excellent choice for users who value practicality over extreme wear resistance.
