COMMANDO Vintage Safari Shorts
Second World War style cotton drill shorts with double buckle fastener. This pattern of shorts were issued to the AIF (Australian Imperial Force) from the outset of its formation and this style remained in service well into the 1950's. The design of the shorts was quite 'roomy' and were cut so as to allow free movement of the leg. The shorts feature an internal side pocket on both sides of the garment and a large pocket to the left rear portion. A smaller rear pocket was fitted to the rear to accommodate a shell dressing. The fly was fastened by way of buttons. The buckles which fasten the waist are tongueless steel buckles which encapture a plain cotton strap. As indicated, there are two buckles (double buckles) which secure the fit around the waist.
These are original 1970's 100% cotton reproductions
